About Our Puppies

Our puppies are bred in the hopes of producing a healthy, happy addition to any family with correct Golden temperament being placed above all else.  When a breeding takes place extreme care is involved because we put the same thought, care and expense into every puppy we produce, it doesn't matter if it is destined to be our next Champion or someone's beloved family pet.  Like our dogs, our puppies are raised and live in our home where they interact with our family and other dogs constantly.  They are held, loved and played with by our children and exposed to what is involved in a busy household prior to being placed in the arms of their new, loving families.

Ethical Golden Retriever breeders are faced with a daunting task when planning a breeding. The breed has dogs of many styles, pedigrees and the possibilities are endless when trying to select the right dog for the right bitch. There are also faults and health issues lurking in every pedigree, some easy to forgive and some devastating. The challenge is to find a stud dog who compliments the style and pedigree of the bitch, upholds the temperament that Golden Retrievers are known for, and whose genetic influence does not perpetuate flaws we wish to eliminate in our breed but instead brings to the surface good health, longevity and a puppy who will mature into an important member of the family. We warrantee our puppies because we feel that though we have made a valiant effort to breed a healthy Golden Retriever by studying pedigrees, researching dogs and only breeding dogs with the proper health clearances, there is still the occasion when health issues can still present themselves.   Additionally, all of our pets are sold on spay/neuter contacts as well as AKC Limited registrations. While we do not breed often, when we do most puppies are sold long in advance of being born.  If you would like us to consider you as a potential adoptee for a Steadmor puppy please contact us so we can send you a questionnaire.  Submitting an application/questionnaire for adoption does not guarantee that you will get a puppy, we have far more inquiries than we will ever have puppies and we are very selective so we encourage you to get on multiple breeders lists.  We are planning a spring/summer 2008 litter so early inquiries are recommended.

Occasionally we may have young adults or puppies, available for fostering. Fostering means these dogs/puppies would live with their foster families the majority of the time, but would return to us for showing, breeding or to have a litter. Having a litter would mean that the female would be with us for about 7-8 weeks to deliver and raise the puppies. These dogs would only be available to families within a reasonable driving distance from our home.

If fostering sounds like it would of interest to you, please contact us for additional details.
