On April 12th, 2008 Destin went Best of Opposite Sex at the Atlanta Kennel Club Inc. show with huge competition on a specialty/regional weekend. We would like to Thank Judge: Mrs. Susanne Dillon for this prestigious award/win. We would also like to Thank Jane Myers for presenting Destin to perfection despite the fact that he was distracted while looking for his mom and didn't have his head in the game. A BOS win like this is certainly sweet for any breeder/owner and I was thrilled to be there to see it in person!
Destin is just one of those 'dream' dogs. He was one of two puppies born and when we lost his sister just a few days after their birth, the sadness was overwhelming, but there was always something about him that just made you smile. Of course we thought 'what are the chances of this puppy being nice enough to go to a show home?' Well, at 7 weeks we knew he was special and he made his way to Florida and into the arms of Julie Kielts of Questan Goldens .
Destin came out at the Sandlapper Specialty owner handled by Julie in 2006 going third in a competitive 12-18 class, being placed over professional handlers and some very nice dogs. We are so proud of Julie and Destin we could just shout!
Since then Destin was only shown sparingly and with three majors he finished his Championship in short order by 26 months of age.
We would like to thank Team Myers (Jane, Greg and Erika Bigott) for their wonderful presentation of Destin from 1st point to last and the judges who recognized this lovely boy.
Destin has perfect ear placement and size, full dentition with a correct bite (no dropped incisors) and a large bear like head which flows into a lovely neck into shoulder. His front end is very strong with an exceptional shoulder layback, upper arm and plenty of prosternum. His topline is solid with nice depth of body and good leanth of loin. His rear angles are balanced to his front, very strong with very nice turn of stifle. His tail comes right off his back and rarely stops wagging. Some people believe that his movement is his strongest asset, he is clean coming/going with powerful reach and drive that allows him to cover extreme distance with little effort. Those who know him best know that of all Destin's strong points his temperament is by far the thing that makes him who he is. He is a joy to show loving the ring and all the attention that goes along with it, a relaxed yet sometimes mischievous house dog that has slobbered his share of shoes and a gentleman with other dogs both large and small, male and female, in tact or altered. His gentleness and love of puppies is only overshadowed by his love of people who he greets with a wagging tail and a roo roo.
Destin has all of his clearances, OFA HIPS, ELBOWS, HEART and CERF EYES, he also has a NORMAL THYROID
Destin has been bred sparingly but is passing on bone, beautiful movement, lovely angles, and his fabulous good looks but we couldn't be prouder of the temperaments Destin is producing. He is stamping his babies with the temperament each and every Golden Retriever should possess, happy, easy going and a desire to please.
We are very proud of Destin's son "Goose" Boca Gold's Peking Duck BISS who is currently training to be a 'bird dog' before heading back out to the show ring. (link Gooses name to his page with a click here or something) please, lol. I know, bossy bossy bossy, lol.
Destin is available for breeding to approved bitches. Bitches must have hip, elbow, heart and eye clearances. Contact us for information.
